Sunbelt Bakery granola bars have been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. The chocolate chip oatmeal cookie version is incredibly delicious and even better than its supermarket counterpart, thanks to the fact that Sunbelt makes its products fresh and locally.

But recently, Sunbelt announced that the company would no longer be considered gluten-free.

This change is due to an issue with one of their suppliers, which means that some flavors were contaminated by flour dust during production.

While this is certainly disappointing news for many people (myself included), there are still plenty of options for finding gluten-free granola bars on the market today.

Are Sunbelt Granola Bars Gluten Free?

No, Sunbelt granola bars are not gluten-free. The company itself states that its products are not considered gluten-free by the FDA, and the company does not test for or claim to be free of gluten.

However, some Sunbelt granola bar flavors may not contain barley malt extract or barley malt syrup (at least one taste does).

If you have celiac disease and choose to eat these products anyway, your risk of reacting is lower than if you consumed other Sunbelt Granola Bar flavors (which contain barley malt extract and syrup).

Sunbelt Granola Bars are also unsuitable for vegans or those lactose-intolerant.
